Some Helpful Tips Because We Care
DOG PULLING ON LEASH
Start with consistent everyday training to prevent your dog from pulling on the leash. Use an everyday collar to reduce strain and gain better control (do not use a harness). Practice loose-leash walking by stopping or changing direction when your dog pulls, rewarding them with treats or praise when they walk beside you. Teach the “heel” command to encourage walking at your pace. Slowly reduce the treats over time. Be patient and consistent, using positive reinforcement only. Remember, consistency and patience are key to effective on leash training.
WHAT TEMPERATURE TO WASH MY DOG
The ideal temperature to wash your dog is lukewarm, around 37°C to 38°C (98°F to 100°F). This is close to the dog’s body temperature, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant wash. Water that’s too hot can cause discomfort or burns, while water that’s too cold can be uncomfortable and stress your dog. Test the water with your hand before starting the bath to ensure it’s the right temperature.
DOG WALKING WITH A DIFFERENCE
At Beaches Dog Care, we combine our dog walking service with basic training to upgrade your pet’s outdoor experience. Our experienced handlers focus on reinforcing good behavior, such as loose-leash walking, sitting at curbs, and polite greetings. Each walk is an opportunity for mental and physical exercise, ensuring your dog returns happy. With Beaches Dog Care, your dog receives the benefits of regular walks and high quality training in one convenient service.

Positive Re-Inforcement With Your Dog
Positive reinforcement for dogs involves rewarding desired behaviors to encourage their repetition. Here are some effective methods:
- Treats: Use small, tasty treats as immediate rewards for good behavior.
- Praise: Verbal praise like “Good dog!” reinforces positive actions.
- Play: Engage in a favorite game or offer a toy as a reward.
- Affection: Petting and cuddles can be powerful incentives.
- Timing: Reward immediately to link the behavior with the reward.
- Consistency: Consistently reinforce good behaviors to build strong habits.
- Training Sessions: Keep sessions short and fun to maintain your dog’s interest and enthusiasm.
Using these techniques helps build a strong, trusting bond between you and your dog while promoting good behavior.
